We slept late today just because we could! Dad and I went to the pool one last time before we checked out of our hotel in Lahaina. We went shopping and had lunch at Whaler’s Village, before we stopped to buy some unique postcards to mail home: coconuts with a painted-on postcard on the back. We hoped they wouldn’t get quarantined and make it home!
That afternoon, we drove to Kahului airport. I really love the smaller Hawaiian airports and the fact that they are open air without normal terminals. Like Kahului’s there are several hut like buildings with services, restaurants and amenities. However, you can wait on a bench under a shaded palm tree for your flight.
After boarding our flight, we left at about 6 p.m. for our direct flight back to Atlanta. We would arrive back in Atlanta at around 8:45 a.m. on Friday morning with the 6-hour time change. What another great trip to Hawaii. We all hoped to enjoy the Aloha spirit again one day!
